With a focus on Cardiology, the successful candidate will lead on the management and processing of biological samples required for trials. The post holder will manage the scheduling and processing of samples, ensuring communication with Laboratory vendors, and ensuring sample dispatch to local, national and international laboratories.
The post holder is expected to coordinate a limited number of portfolio non-interventional studies with senior support alongside supporting the research team with a variety of more complex clinical trials. The post is based on the Lincoln County Hospital site.
This post suits a variety of professional backgrounds within the sciences and we encourage applications from groups such as Biomedical Science graduates
This job role particularly provides opportunities to develop, gain experience and knowledge within Cardiology setting also supporting other trials within the research delivery team.
We have lots of training available and an extensive induction programme will be offered to ensure staff build confidence and skill within the role.
Specific tasks will be:
Responding to enquiries from potential participants
Pre-screening potential participants by using clinical data, direct clinic screening and interacting with the Multidisciplinary team.
Obtaining informed consent from participants were appropriate once consent training is completed.
Supporting Principle Investigators in the screening and recruitment of potential patients.
Venepuncture and blood spinning by centrifuge
Scheduling lab time and managing the processing of lab samples and the vendors associated with each trial.
Lab skills are required.
Arranging and attending clinic visits and other patient appointments.
Being a point of contact for trial participants
Completion of trial forms and prompt data entry to the online database
Assisting the setup of clinical trials None CTIMP trials.
Working with Commercial sponsors on trials with demanding time lines.
Experience of the above procedures would be an advantage, but the post-holder will be joining an experienced team and full training will be given.
The R & I department is proactive and forward-looking, working in partnership with the regional NHS Trusts and Universities and has been successful in establishing and hosting National Institute for Health Research Clinical Research Network East Midlands (NIHR RRDN) staff, to support the delivery of commercial and non-commercial clinical research within ULHT. We provide the opportunity for patients to participate in and benefit from high quality clinical research studies in Cancer, Cardiology, Stroke, Gastroenterology, Dementia and Neurodegenerative diseases and many other areas of healthcare.
